KRISHNA-LORD OF GRAVITY By RAMANA ANNAM
When I was growing up in rural India I used to attend story telling at my village square. They are called Harikatha's , ( story of God) . It is usually a month long story starting from 9pm to midnight, recited by reverend figures.. I attended one of them and the story was epic Mahabharatha. Maabharatha is saga about the Kingdoms ,war between cousins, with fascinating twists and turns and complexity of thousands of characters , supposedly based on true events. One character stands out very much in the epic saga is "Krishna". Krishna is mischievous ,diplomatic , sexual, sensual and very romantic with extraordinary powers. Krishna's appearance was described in the epic is strikingly handsome , dark looking with bluish undertones with teasing eyes. Though he has his small kingdom , he likes being part time jockey for the one of the finest warriors in Mahabharatha called "Arjuna " When Krishna was small kid he used to steal women's clothes , while they are taking bath in the river , and he made them beg for their clothes ,while being amused. Calling him knotty kid is an understatement. One particular story about him , used to bring me quite a laugh . Krishna has eight wives with sixteen thousand girl friends. Yes indeed, eight wives!! . One of the wives got jealous one day , though he is spending lot of time with her , she wants to check on him. She sends few messengers to see if any other wives are happy with their husband Krishna, whom all they share. Expecting disgruntled wives rage, their husband not spending time with them she is eagerly waiting for the messengers. All the messengers came back and said all the wives are very happy because he is there every night with all of them .The jealous wife got puzzled and confused about her husband how could he spend time with all the wives at the same time while he is with her. It always bought me a smile , wonder what a lucky guy Krishna is, he makes all the eight wives happy at the same time. What a power he got!!!
After long, long, long time of Krishna's era , say after thousand of years , a scientist came along from a different part of the world. .His name is Issac Newton. As we all know, one of his famous discoveries is Gravitational force. He described the gravitational force is the same one that makes the apple fall to the ground and the same force that governs the earth rotating around the sun. . He combined heavens and earth with simple equation describing the gravitational force. He realized the mathematics is the language of science. He invented the calculus along the way. He is unchallenged king of physics for centuries. .Newton's gravitational theory brought unprecedented advances in science and technology. After almost 250 years passing of Newton, there is patent clerk in Germany had some doubts about Newton's description of gravity. This unknown clerk , realized Newton did not really understand how Gravity works, and he came up with starling discovery and dazzled the world with his theories. His name is Albert Einstein. He described Gravity, as the path taken by the objects ,in the fabric of space-time curvature. Einstein combined our three dimensional world ( Length, width, height) and single dimension of time ,came up with the fabric of space -time. To illustrate an example of Einstein's theory Imagine a folded saree ( a long piece of cloth) stretched by four corners at few feet high to the ground.. If you place a heavy bowling ball in the saree , it creates a v shaped deep dent in the middle of the cloth. If you place a marble ( a small round shaped sphere ) near the edge , the marble moves in a circular motion along the curvature and dents created by the heavy object ,in this instance , the bowling ball. Now if you transfer the same concept , that a saree is fabric of space time and the bowling ball is our Sun and the marble is Earth , the Earth moves along the curvature of space-time fabric, created by heavy weight of the sun, and gives the illusion of force of gravity. According to Einstein's theory, the saree is just not only represents space , but also represents time as strange it sounds.. The events occurred to us are points in the space time fabric. Your baby's birthday celebration or your father's death is a just a point in the space-time continuum created by gravity. As you noticed in space-time continuum, time is a dimension .. The space around us and the events occurred to us are intertwined in a strange way, became a celebrated theory of all times and elevated the status of Einstein to Genius.
To understand the Time dimension , take two points in the saree and these two points represent two distinct time periods and besides the different physical coordinates. If you put sufficient weight in the middle of the saree , then V shape becomes much closer ,and the two points becomes closer and closer as you increase the weight. As the two different points gets closer then you can walk from one time period to other time period with a simple step with out traveling. Time travel is not any more fantasy and matter of when we create that kind of machine. In fact space- time tunneling is much more real in the sub atomic world than any other place. The particles that made up of our bodies travel through space time with ease. . It means they go to different places and different time periods like child's play. Unfortunately this phenomenon is not big enough to be noticed by our physical senses. The laws of physics at the sub atomic level not only requires but demands a distinct possibility that we travel through space-time , however infinitely small the possibility is.
Coming back to our hero Krishna, he seems to master the gravity ,bend the space time curvature , appeared and disappeared, any time, any place at his will. Task of keeping all the wives happy , of course is a trivial matter for this master .But in no doubt either He created those laws or mastered those laws of physics , exerting enormous energy to bend space -time to move around the distances and times at his free will in a instant for his wife's amazement. .Einstein must have seen the glimpse of this master's magic. Einstein not only believed in that supreme being , but also believed different forces of nature are derived from one and only the universal force . He went for hunting for that universal force through mathematics and physics , that he called "unified filed theory" .Unite all the natural forces in to one. But there is ghost coming from subatomic world is haunting Einstein's universe. Einstein's vision of universe is orderly ,methodical and structured. But the facts and experiments coming from sub atomic universe( quantum mechanics) are nothing but chaotic ,chances and luck of draw . Einstein's beautiful, structured macro universe is in direct contradiction with the crazy, unpredictable micro Universe. Einstein had intense aversion to the casino description of the universe and made famous quote " God does not play dice with the universe" . But the facts coming from micro universe are indisputable. Since Macro universe is evolved from micro universe we can not have two different sets of laws of nature. But we are confronted with two sets of laws , one for micro universe and the other for Macro universe, and both seems to be superficially valid. Scientists could not explain both universes under one set of laws. This open dark secret swept under the rug ,by scientists from both sides and kept working on their own theories. Genius of Macro universe, Einstein kept working on his grandiose idea of unification of all the natural forces in to one ( unified field theory) and unlock the mystery of the universe to see foot prints of the master creator . He was working unsuccessfully on unification theory until he died in his sleep. The theory went in to hibernation with out old grand master and from the loud noises and protests of yuppies of micro universe ( quantum world) . .Decades passed by as the brotherhood of scientific world from micro and Macro worlds acted like they don't know each other.
But nature won't sit down quite with conflicting laws. .The nature reveals it self the truth sometimes through beautiful mathematical equations. Mathematics is language of science but some times seems to be the language of God. Mathematics did not like the conflict between the laws of Macro universe and laws of micro universe. To accommodate the macro and micro universes a new bizarre and strange theory called "String theory" was born through mathematical complexities. String theory explained, the micro and Macro universes with beauty and elegance. String theory as in the name says, the basic units of the matter are not atoms, not protons not neutrons and not even quarks , really it is 100th billion billion times smaller than quark . It is a "string" looks like rubber band. It is not physical matter but it is strand of energy like a rubber band. The vibrations and symphonies of this strings with permutations and combinations , may make an appearance as matter like protons ,neutrons etc.. As many variations as it can be produced by the notes from the violin , the strings can produce that many variations in the nature and appear as different elements. So our bodies are made up of billions and billions of vibrating energy strings as theory puts it, now after all, energy channeling does not sound like as quack idea as it seems. But there is something more these strings do.. They vibrate in more than three dimensions that you and me experience in everyday life. .They vibrate in another dimension , like Time dimension from Einstein's famous theory but also vibrate in 10 other physical dimensions ... We can not visualize those additional dimensions with our naked eye, at the best we struggle to comprehend it through mathematics.
There is living scientist, he has bachelor's degree in Linguistics and history besides other credentials , a volunteer in the McGovern presidential campaign , a soft spoken man , and his name is not well known in general public, but the scientific world call him Genius, compare him to the greatness of Einstein . He is scientist for scientists and his name is Edward Witten , Professor at institute for Advanced study ,Princeton, New Jersey, where Einstein spent his last years of life.. Edward witten solved the many riddles of string theory with his mathematical and scientific prowess to the amazement of his fellow scientists. He proposed an additional 11th dimension as one of the strings with enormous energy, stretches as big as just like our universe .It also explains the existence of parallel universes with in grasp of our hand .But we are trapped in higher dimensions, could not able to move to the other universes like as we are trapped by four walled room with out doors. We are searching for a window in the dark room . We may get a rare flash picture of parallel universe on the other side of the wall , where the hunt continues at Fermi labs in Illinois, and soon to be operational at CERN labs in Switzerland . These bizarre ideas are not coming from crack pots but a Noble laureates with unparallel credentials. Yes!! A single strand of energy , the string, grown in to as big as our universe as the 11 th dimension , just like membranes . In short they are called "Branes". These ideas may be very novel to westerners, but easterners understand with little ease with out advanced degrees in physics through puranas and Vedas.
Two Indian scientist's Contributions appear from a distant past in the String theory after their long passing. One is Satyendranath Bose ( The particles called Bosons named after him ) and the other one is Srinivasa Ramanujam , along with his mystic mathematical modular functions.
Coming back to epic Mahabharatha our beloved Krishna ,lord of gravity ,who is famous chariot jockey for great warrior Arjuna . As Arjuna enters the war with his famous jockey Krishna with his chariot , was extremely saddened and disappointed about fighting his fellow friends ,cousins and most of all his teachers. Arjuna felt he does not have inner strength to kill his own family, friends and most of all his reverend teachers. But Krishna took him away from the war scene and gave him the most powerful and revealing wisdom of life and death in order to convince him that he is just mere pawn in his grand old universe, . The conversation between Krishna and Arjuna is called " The Bhagwat Gita" (song of God) which became the sacred text for Hindu religion. As strange as 11th dimension in string theory ,with amazing coincidence, 11th chapter in Bhagwad Gita reveals the Multidimensional universal form of Krishna.

Look Arjuna Thousands Millions of my divine forms Beings of all kinds and sizes Of every color and shape
Sankrit: hym :ihaika-stham jagat krtsnam pasyadya sa-caracaram mama dehe gudakesa yac canyad drastum icchasi
The whole Universe , all things Animate or inanimate Are gathered here-Look -enfolded Inside my infinite body
But since you are not able To see me with mortal eyes I will grant you divine sight ..look Look! The depths of my power!

With innumerable mouths and eyes Faces too marvelous to stare at Dazzling ornaments, innumerable Weapons uplifted, flaming----
Crowned with fire, wrapped In pure light, with celestial fragrance He stood forth as the infinite God, composed of all wonders
If a thousand suns were to rise And stand in the noon sky , blazing Such brilliance would be like the fierce Brilliance of that mighty self
Arjuna saw the whole universe Enfolded, with its countless billions Of life forms, gathered together In the body of the God of gods
All gods in your body And multitudes of beings, Lord, And Brahma on his lotus throne And the seers , and the shining angles
I see you every where , with billions Of arms, eyes, bellies, faces Without end, middle, or beginning Your body the whole universe, Lord
I see you beginningless, endless, Infinite power , with billion Arms, the sun and moon Your eyeballs, the flames of your mouth
lighting the universe with splendor you alone fill all space and the three worlds shudder when they see your astounding, terrifying form
As moths rush into a flame And are burned in an instant, all Beings plunge down your gullet And instantly are consumed
you gulp down all worlds, everywhere swallowing them in your flames and your rays, Lord Vishnu, fill all the universe with dreadful brilliance
who are you in this terrifying form? Have mercy, Lord ..grant me even A glimmer of understanding To prop up my staggering mind

-I am death, shatterer of worlds, annihilating all things with or without you, these warriors in their facing armies will die
Therefore stand up; win glory; Conqueror the enemy; rule Already I have struck them down; You are just my instrument Arjuna

Why should they bow, eternal Creator, infinite lord? You are both being and non being, And what is beyond them both,
The primal God, the Primordial Person , the ultimate place Of the universe, the knower and the known, The presence that fills all things
Again and again I bow you Form all sides, in every direction, Majesty infinite in power You pervade- no you are -all things
Having seen what no mortal has seen I am joyful, yet I quiver with dread, Show me your other form -please- The one that I know; have mercy

Krishna blesses Arjuna with divine sight , which could not been seen with naked eye to feel the awesome display of his multidimensional and multicolored universal form .As observed by Arjuna, Krishna's transcendental form has no beginning ,no middle and no ending. Krishna's universal form embodies every kind of life exits on earth and every where. In his multi dimensions, Krishna displayed the time dimension, where he made Arjuna realized all his reverend teachers, cousins, and his dear ones already killed. .Through Krishna's universal form and his amazing powers Arjuna realized, he is just an actor to follow his duties as a warrior in the grand old scheme.
Bhagvad Gita tackles the most advanced theories of physics describing the gravity, time travel and multiple dimensions. Bhagvad Gita( Song of God) irrespective of its religious affiliation, shines in front of the most intellectuals in the world , and must be read book, for enthusiasts of string theory and unification theory. The line between a sacred philosophy " Bhagvad Gita" and the most advanced theory of Physics " String theory" is getting blurred and both try to make us understand the true intent and purpose of our lives in this complex universe. Mahatma Gandhi , Buddha along the lines of meaning of Bhagvad Gita ,are in harmony with one of the Albert Einstein's quote
" A human being is part of the whole called by us :universe" , a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us , restricting us to our own personal desires and to affection for few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison. By widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but the striving for such achievement is, in itself a part of the liberation and foundation for our inner security"
